FAQ about hypnosis

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of your brain and nervous system. You already enter this state every day: when you become completely absorbed in a movie, when you find yourself gazing out of the window, or just before you fall asleep.
So if you can relax and focus your attention, you can experience hypnosis.

How does hypnosis actually work?

What we do during hypnosis is bring your conscious and unconscious mind back into alignment while also connecting with a deeper, wiser part of yourself: your higher awareness and broader perspective.
Your unconscious mind has often been trying to help you for a very long time. Sometimes, however, it relies on old strategies: old habits, old reflexes, and old forms of protection. These may have made sense in the past, but they may no longer serve you today.
Imagine yourself as the captain of a ship. You decide where you want to go. Your unconscious mind is the crew: hardworking and well-intentioned, but sometimes still following outdated instructions.
In hypnosis, you can finally communicate clearly with your crew. You can say:
"Thank you. I see that you were trying to help me. But there is a new course now. This is the new direction we are taking."
And beyond that lies the ocean: the larger field of consciousness, your higher mind. It is the space where you are supported, where insights arise more easily, and where your system naturally discovers new possibilities.

Can I be hypnotized?

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. It is a natural state that we experience every night when we fall asleep.
So if you can fall asleep and wake up, you can enter hypnosis.
Hypnosis is not something that is done to you. The most important thing is simply allowing the process to unfold.

Can someone make me do something against my will while I am hypnotized?

No. You remain in control the entire time.
You are aware of what is happening, and I cannot make you do anything that goes against your values or your wishes.

Will I remember the session afterward?

Yes.
You may miss a few details, just as you might not remember every detail after listening to the radio for a long time. However, you can trust that your unconscious mind remembers everything that is important.

Am I asleep during hypnosis?

No.
You remain conscious and aware of what is happening throughout the session. This is important because we communicate with each other during the session, even while you are in hypnosis.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No.
Even if we are working online, you can always bring yourself back simply by counting from five down to one.
You can never become "stuck" in hypnosis.

Can I do something wrong?

No.
There is no way to do hypnosis incorrectly. You do not need to try hard or force anything to happen.
All you need is a little trust and a willingness to allow the experience to unfold.
